From the very beginning we knew that offering a selection of accessible, affordable and rewarding training courses was high up on our wish list. Now, thanks to our studio facilities we are making it a reality! We are excited to share this area of the website with everyone as it contains information about courses and workshops that are available now but also those that are in the pipeline. Small Personal Classes

We work with a maximum of 6 students at a time to ensure that we can make everything as personal as possible. This allows the pace of learning to be adapted for individual needs and it also encourages more student questions and interaction.

Hands-On Learning

Our classes are held in our studio, set in an 18th century barn in Findon. All of our equipment is at hand to help demonstrate what we teach and also to allow our students to get the right mixture of theory and hands-on learning.

Ongoing Support

After attending one of our classes you get access to some exclusive resources, including a closed Facebook group open only to previous students, along with telephone and email support. These allow you ask questions and share ideas.

Loyalty Discounts

As a thank you from us, once your first course is completed you will qualify for a 10% discount on all eligible follow-up training classes or workshops. This gives you the perfect incentive to keep up that learning and elevate your experience!

Our Evening & Weekend Classes

Classes are run on a regular basis at our studio with consistent content. Details of our classes can be found below. They are either run as a single full-day on a weekend or mid-week over two or more evenings. Occasionally new classes maybe added, so check back regularly!

Avoiding Auto – Photography Fundamentals

Finding yourself stuck on Auto? Scared of Manual Mode? Have you got a camera but don’t have confidence in using it? If you can answer to any of those then this is the course for you.

  • Learn the basics of photography and get the most from your camera..
  • A great class for complete beginners or someone wanting a refresher.
  • No previous knowledge required, just a desire to learn.
  • Learn and practice with your own SLR or bridge Camera.
  • Gain access to exclusive learning resources and support.

This class includes approximately 7 hours of teaching at our studio in Findon, either as a full-day or split across two evenings.

  • Breaking the myths of photography.
  • What is ‘Auto’ and why we should avoid it.
  • Understanding Exposure.
  • Aperture

  • The learning curve of a photographer.

In addition to the list above there are opportunities to talk about many other topics as well as dive into any specific area of interest that the students have. The class approach is informal and everyone is encouraged to ask questions as we move through each topic.

This class is held at our studio in Findon. Our studio is set in an 18th century barn and benefits from high ceilings and an open plan layout, making it perfect for photography.

‘Avoiding Auto’ is currently run as a full day class (7 hours) or as two evening sessions (2x 3.5 hours). We normally keep exactly one week between the first and second evening sessions. This is because we understand that there is a lot of information to absorb and it’s nice to get a little practice between the sessions whilst letting things sink in!

Confident Control – Intermediate Photography

This course is ideal for someone that is already confident in the basics of photography such as exposure and the various camera modes available to them, but wants to take the next steps in photography. It is an ideal follow-on course to our ‘Avoiding Auto’ fundamentals class.

  • Move your knowledge to the next level with intermediate and advanced topics..
  • Employ new camera functions to improve your photographs.
  • Learn to be critical of your work and push your boundaries.
  • Start to work with flash light sources.
  • Understand the role of post-processing and file formats.

This class includes approximately 7 hours of teaching at our studio in Findon, either as a full-day or split across two evenings.

Start From Dark – Lighting Fundamentals

This class focuses solely on the subject of lighting. You will learn about flash and continuous light sources as well as manipulating them to further your photography.

  • Ideal for anyone that has completed our ‘Avoiding Auto’ class or already has confidence in photography fundamentals such as exposure and camera modes..
  • Learn to understand the different types of light and when they work for you.
  • Understand the techniques required to mix artificial light with ambient light for striking results.
  • Shape, fill, bounce and block light with modifiers.
  • Get hands on with our studio equipment.

This class includes approximately 7 hours of teaching at our studio in Findon, either as a full-day or split across two evenings.

Workshops are either setup by ourselves or our special guests. They are usually only run for a limited time or on limited days.
